Compared to the previous year, the average salary grew only from 32 to 33 thousand pesos, or 3.1%, and the first quartile remained at the same figure (20 thousand pesos). So in real terms (when considering inflation), the average salary for our profession decreased this year. How can that be, if there is so much demand? Well, looking at the numbers in more depth, we notice that we have a higher proportion than a year ago of people with less than 5 years of experience. Apparently, what is happening is that in the face of the high demand for talent, we are having a higher proportion of “novice” developers who are therefore in the lower compensation brackets.



Figure 1 shows a frequency histogram of salaries, with a density curve. As we will see later, belonging to one of these groups depends mainly on experience and level of English.
