You won't believe it! Santa Claus was just in our office. Yes, the real Santa Claus. And I can tell you, he really looks like you would imagine: a plump, friendly old man with a white beard and wearing a red and white robe.

As it turns out, he too has recognized the signs of the times: Santa Claus wants to reduce his carbon footprint. The feed consumption of his reindeer and their overtime are also a problem for him. And that is exactly why he came to adesso - I'll tell you about it now!

A Conversation with Santa Claus
Santa Claus laughed at us: "Hohoho! As you know, I fly around the world every Christmas and hand out loads of presents." And at the same time he complained: "It's a lot of work, I tell you... and it also eats up a greece consumer email list lot of resources. The reindeer feed is getting more and more expensive, and my sleigh isn't that young anymore. The exhaust fumes are pretty bad, you know. Something just has to change!"

We knew this all too well from our daily consulting work and our curiosity was immediately aroused: “Oh yes, a lot of people are worried right now. What possibilities do you see?” we asked Santa Claus.

Santa Claus seemed to have been concerned about his situation for some time, as he answered quickly and in detail: "The problem is that I have to travel more efficiently. Simply more cost-effectively! Otherwise the presents have to be smaller - and that's not possible. Every year I think to myself: is this really the best route? Isn't there a shorter one with less distance? But one thing is clear: skipping a city and thus giving presents to fewer people is not an option!"

Our team pricked up their ears because this sounded like a planning problem that we could help with using our analytics methods: “Okay, we’re getting closer to the problem. What exactly does your planning task look like on Christmas night?”

It wasn't difficult for Santa Claus to explain his daily work routine: "Starting from my base at the North Pole, I fly to several hundred places all over the world. There I unload a few sacks of presents, which are then distributed by my elves on site," he explained. "I ask myself: in what order should I fly to my list of places so that my round trip is as short as possible? Every flight mile saved is valuable for my wallet and the climate. And my reindeer would also benefit from less overtime."
