The record for longevity remains with Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment , who lived to be 122 years old. Researchers believe that it is unlikely that this record will be broken in the near future due to biological limitations.
According to the scientific community, the data obtained cast doubt on ambitious projects aimed at radically increasing human lifespan using genetic engineering and biotechnology.

CRM: Targeting Integrin-alpha Protein Reduces Cancer Aggressiveness

Scientists from the Madrid Institute of Oncology have found that targeting a specific protein, integrin-alpha, suppresses the ability of cancer cells to migrate. The results of the study were published in the journal Cell Reports Medicine.
New Method to Block Cancer Cell Growth Found

According to Professor Guillermo Esteban Santillana, lead author of the study, inhibiting integrin-alpha activity significantly reduces the ability of tumor cells to migrate. In laboratory experiments, scientists were able to reduce metastatic activity by 70%.
To assess the role of integrin-alpha in the development and spread of cancer, three-dimensional cell models were used that served as imitations of real tumors. A unique visualization technique made it possible to observe the behavior of mutated cells in real time.
Scientists have also developed an experimental drug that blocks the work of integrin-alpha. Preclinical tests on laboratory animals showed encouraging results: the drug slowed tumor growth without causing significant side effects. According to scientists, these properties open up new prospects for its further use in oncology.
