What's going on in Rogue and what you need to know before watching timeline stuff out of the way let's review Rogue. Research scientist Galen Erso Mads Mikkelsen and his family, including his young daughter Jean, were in hiding when the movie was released. Soon the film's main antagonist, Imperial weapons developer Orson Krennic Ben Mendelsohn, found Galen and killed his wife.

Fifteen years have passed. Cargo pilot Bodhi Rook defected from the Empire and delivered Galen's message to Thor. Meanwhile, the Rebel Alliance intercepts Jean, who has just been released from an Imperial labor camp. Bail Organa and Mon Mothma convinced her to rescue her father, Galen, so that they could learn more about the Death Star plans.
