Yesterday, August 22, within the framework of the international conference on cybersecurity OFFZONE 2024, the director of the department of security analysis and counteraction to fraud of OOO "Bizon" (BI.Zone) Evgeny Voloshin, together with other speakers, summed up the results of the year of the BI.Zone Bug Bounty platform. "I would like to note that we evaluate the bug bounty market from August to August, since it was in August 2022 that our platform appeared. A year ago, there were 16 companies with public programs on all Russian bug bounty platforms, at the moment there are 29 of them," said Evgeny Voloshin.
noted that since the platform' slovenia whatsapp number database launch in August 2022 to the present day, companies have paid out over 60 million rubles to white hat hackers through BI.Zone Bug Bounty. Of this, 45 million rubles were paid out in the last year alone. Thus, the amount of payments has tripled year-on-year. "We have updated the platform and its design, made it more convenient and modern. One of our goals is to make BI.Zone Bug Bounty not only profitable for bug hunters and companies, but also convenient to use. We have introduced a motivational program for security researchers. In this way, we want to show that you can do bug hunting full-time and earn a good income without having a main job. The average reward on the platform was 35 thousand rubles. The largest reward was from VK LLC - 2.4 million rubles," Andrey Levkin noted.
When asked by a ComNews correspondent whether the demand of companies for bug hunters had changed in 2024 compared to 2023, Yuri Shabalin, CEO of Stingray Technologies LLC, said that it had: "We need to look at it from two sides. On the one hand, there is the demand of companies for such services. This is greatly facilitated by the fact that there are three open platforms in the Russian Federation for people to participate in them. It is much easier for Russian companies, even banks, fintech and everyone else to enter the Bug Bounty field through them and it is much easier to legally conclude relations with bug hunters for official payments. Some companies regularly hold various events, releasing a large three-day scope with various rewards. And on the other hand, foreign platforms regularly freeze the assets of white hackers. In Russia, many people go into bug hunting and try themselves in this field, including young specialists.
Currently, there are three platforms for conducting Bug Bounty programs in the Russian Federation: BugBounty.ru, Standoff 365 Bug Bounty from Positive Technologies JSC and Bi.Zone Bug Bounty.
