Customer data is the fuel that powers Amazon's advertising engine

Amazon is an emerging advertising giant that promises to overshadow (slowly but surely) Google and Facebook. According to a recent study by the consultancy Juniper Research, global digital advertising investment in Amazon will reach 8% in 2023 (far from 3% in 2018).

Between 2019 and 2023, advertising revenues for the company led by Jeff Bezos (whose most precious asset is the customer data in its hands) will grow by 470% to reach 40 billion euros.

While Juniper Research predicts that Google's digital advertising belarus phone number revenue will exceed the $230 billion mark by 2023, it also points out in its report that the Mountain View company's cumulative advertising spending will plummet by 1% over the next four years. And the reasons behind Google's very slight decline in advertising revenue are anchored in the accelerated growth of rivals such as Amazon and Baidu.


In 2023, global digital advertising spending will reach $520 billion , according to forecasts by Juniper Research. This huge figure dwarfs the figure predicted for this year: $294 billion.

The frenetic growth in global spending on digital advertising will be aided by the rise of programmatic buying and other related technologies with the ultimate goal of confronting consumers with increasingly personalized advertising.

On the other hand, and contrary to what it might seem at first glance, Amazon advertising does not attract only advertisers who sell their products on the world's largest online store. In fact, a recently published report concludes that between 70% and 90% of the impact derived from display advertising on Amazon is rooted in sales outside the e-commerce giant.
