CMS Transfer URL Format

Post by kexej28769@nongnue »

I wanted to quickly get to my point before diving into some tips to avoid redirection mistakes. When I talk about migration, I'm coming from experience with these basic activities.

One example of migration that I'm referring to is maybe we're taking on a client and they previously used a CMS that had a predefined type of URL formatting, and it had some history.

So it was /2018/May/ and then post. Then we're cambodia number data the CMS. We have more flexibility about the structure of our pages, our URLs, so we're going to just move it to /post or something like that. So there's going to be a lot of URLs moving around because we're changing the structure of those URLs.

"Keyword" naming conventions
Another example is that sometimes we'll get clients who come to us with dated or keyword-heavy URLs, and we want to change that to make it a lot cleaner, shortening them where possible, just making them more human-readable.

An example of this might be if the client used URLs like /best-plumber-dallas, and we want to change that to something cleaner, more natural, and not as keyword-driven, just /plumbers or something like that. This could be another example of too many URLs if we are taking over an entire site and we want to eliminate them.
