Right against one's will

Post by asimd23 »

A small warning to all publishers planning to launch a new medium (if there is such a thing): Don't try to appeal to all political camps. Don't give in to the illusion that you can offer a "diversity of opinion". Don't even talk about the balance you are aiming for. You won't be able to keep your promise. Not because you don't want to. But because you aren't allowed to. Instead, choose one of the political poles and put your foot down. I speak from experience.

At the end of April we launched the regional uae rcs data online newspaper "Die Ostschweiz". The concept had two main pillars: journalistic articles and contributions from guest authors. The latter should be completely free: anyone who has something to say can do so, as long as he or she can prove some kind of connection to the topic. And this is expressly from all political camps. This is the only way debates can arise, and we never intended to exclude any part of the population. That would also be stupid from an economic point of view.

In the first three weeks, a colorful collection of carte blanche texts by guest authors emerged - entrepreneurs, politicians, cultural workers. In the first edition, and this will be important later, four regional SP leaders and a co-initiator of the full money initiative spoke out. The same number of bourgeois authors had their say. Representatives of all stripes were interviewed. We had absolute political balance.
