Optimized archive, data processing and automation

Post by asimd23 »

SeaTable 2.5 is here! The new Docker image was already made available on Docker Hub at the end of last week and this morning SeaTable Cloud was upgraded to the latest version. The new release makes many of SeaTable's features even better! The archive function with its growing feature set is recommended for a growing number of america rcs data use cases, the available data processing functions are becoming more flexible and the integrated automations and the rating column offer new options. Also worth mentioning: Link type columns and link formulas are now fully supported in external views. Read on to learn more about these new features. The full list of changes can be found - as always - in the SeaTable changelog .

Revised archive function
Since the archive was introduced as a beta feature in version 2.3, our developers have been working non-stop to get the archive feature ready for production use. We haven't quite reached that goal with version 2.5, but the new version represents a huge step in that direction.

The archive function now supports all 24 columns, including the three column types formula, link and formula for link. The lack of write access to the archive data remains a limitation in SeaTable 2.5, but these three columns are special cases: Values in the two formula columns are calculated dynamically, depending on the specification of the formula. If a formula is changed, the values in the archived rows are recalculated. If the user changes the lookup column in a formula for links, the archive data reflects this change. The same applies to the link column. A change in the display column is carried out equally in the entire data set, including the archive. In this way, the archived data remains comparable with the non-archived data.
