Kaspersky Lab has acquired a 49% stake in Ximi Pro LLC, a subsidiary of Ximi Lab LLC. This company develops the Tron solution for securing container applications. The parties did not disclose the amount of the deal, but they told ComNews that Mikhail Taynov will remain the director of Ximi Pro LLC. Before the deal, he owned 77.05% of the company's shares. Artem Tovbin owned 22.95%.
The deal will allow colombia mobile number database Kaspersky Lab to offer the market a product for protecting container infrastructures and expand the XDR solution with the ability to detect and respond to threats in such environments. Piloting of the new product will begin in Q2 2023, and the start of commercial sales is planned for Q3 of the same year.
According to Gartner forecasts, the global container software market will grow to $944 million by 2024. This is due to the fact that this form of virtualization helps optimize corporate IT infrastructures and development processes. However, when conducting targeted attacks, container infrastructure often acts as an initial vector due to configuration errors and vulnerabilities in key components. To reduce such risks, Kaspersky Lab is expanding its portfolio of corporate products with a container protection solution.
The deal will enable Kaspersky Lab to provide security for container infrastructure, applications and services, and, in XDR scenarios, to receive additional telemetry from containers and container environments and offer companies the necessary response measures. The new product will allow monitoring what is happening in the container infrastructure, detecting suspicious behavior and protecting it from attackers who exploit configuration errors, vulnerable components or components containing malicious code to carry out attacks.
Andrey Efremov, Business Development Director at Kaspersky Lab, spoke about the place of container security in the company's product portfolio: "One of the key goals of the company's strategy is to build an ecosystem that will cover all security scenarios for corporate customers' digital assets. We see a growing demand for container security, as more and more companies use such infrastructure. The product we will bring to the market will be in demand in various industries, not only in IT and software development, but also in banks, retail, industry, in general, anywhere where there is modern development. I am very pleased that this product will become part of Kaspersky Lab's product portfolio."
