The digital project "Improving the process of preparing former convicts for social adaptation" was developed by a team of the regional government together with the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Kaliningrad Region. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.

The demand for such support is high: according to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, in the first 6 months of 2024, about 12 thousand people applied for assistance within the framework of probation. The necessary legal framework has also been created: on January 1, 2024, the law "On Probation in the Russian Federation" came into force in Russia.

Within the framework of the project, the Ministry of Social Policy of the Kaliningrad Region consolidated social services and social support measures for convicted persons participating in the probation procedure. Then a digital navigator of social support measures for life situations "Social Adaptation of Former Convicts" was developed. The service is implemented on the website of the regional Ministry of Social Policy. It can be used, for example, by an inspector of a correctional institution, drawing up an individual program, or by a former convict and his family members. As the developers of the project note, one of the principles of probation is the voluntary nature of its use.
