e Lipetsk Region Government has dramatically reduced the period for paying social benefits to residents of the region using artificial intelligence technologies from Sber.

Every year, the regional government processes about a million applications for various social support measures – both federal and regional. Residents submit applications through 28 communication channels. In total, there are 100 support measures in the Lipetsk Region for large families, children, pensioners and pregnant women – this is about 500 thousand people. Of these, only 30% receive targeted support measures. Often, residents seek support only in a critical situation.

Manual processing of such a number of requests would have required two years of work by the team of the Lipetsk Region Social Policy Department.

As a result of using Process Mining from Sber, the Lipetsk Region government has reduced the speed of making a decision on payment from 21 to 12 days. The immediate plans are to reduce this period to one day by actively using artificial intelligence.

"Timely payment of social benefits is one of the priority tasks for the Lipetsk Region government. The implementation of the Process Mining platform from Sber has significantly increased the efficiency of the social protection system in the region. We make decisions quickly, bypassing long and costly studies. Now, in one day, the volume of tasks that used to take two weeks is completed. As a result, residents of the region receive decisions on payments within 12 days on average, while we see the potential to reduce this period to one day," said Olga Beloglazova, Deputy Governor of the Lipetsk Region.

"The use of Process Mining from Sber will reduce the time it takes to provide services to citizens and reduce the costs of regional budgets for maintaining such processes. The technology can also be integrated into healthcare, procurement, financial processes, tax functions and anywhere where information systems are used and there are digital traces. The successful experience of using Process Mining in the Lipetsk region can be scaled to other regions," said Taras Skvortsov, Senior Vice President, Head of the Finance Block at Sberbank.
