The conference is the main event of the year for the professional CAE community in the country. Opening the event, Ekaterina Solntseva, Director of Digitalization at the Rosatom State Corporation, said that currently the main task of developing Russian SAE systems is to achieve an international level of competitiveness.

The departure of foreign vendors has not removed the issue of competition between domestic and foreign CAE systems from the agenda, since Russian users have experience using foreign mathematical modeling products and compare it with the practice of using domestic software: "This is a challenge for us. At the start of import substitution, we said that we wanted not just to replace foreign software with Russian, but to make products better than those that we could get from foreign manufacturers through joint efforts. Have we managed to do this? Not yet. We are moving in the right direction, but more slowly than we would like," she emphasized.

One of the reasons, Ekaterina Solntseva said, is the lack of activity in terms of developing the national CAE platform, which is designed to unite developers to quickly increase the functionality of Russian software of this class: "The unification of developers' efforts will allow us to make a breakthrough, providing Russian enterprises with a CAE system comparable to world-class products. Even now, such a solution united on a national platform will cover up to 85% of the declared functionality of world leaders. Large-scale cooperation is not an easy task, but having overcome the difficulties, we will gain a competitive advantage that does not exist on the world market. By uniting mathematical modeling products from different companies on one platform, we open up the possibility for engineers to perform multiphysical calculations that will allow them to create industrial products taking into account a larger number of different calculation models, which means that we will ensure an increase in the quality of not only industrial software, but also the industrial products themselves.
