The COVID-19 crisis, with its difficulties in supplying masks, has highlighted the importance of the Supply Chain. To find out more, we met Yvon Doukhan, director of the MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at ESLSCA. He answers all the questions you may have about logistics and its place in the company, the MBA and its students, the opportunities and prospects of such training...
Yvon Doukhan : Since its emergence, logistics was considered important, but was played out "in the back office". Few specialized training courses existed, generally at bac+2 or bac+3 level.
In recent years, the
viber database function has evolved, first in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and its importance has continued to grow. With the health crisis, logistics has been placed in the spotlight. The general public has discovered its critical role through the crisis in the supply of masks or medical equipment, or food products. The key objectives of logistics – anticipation, process reliability, increased responsiveness, customer satisfaction – are now known and recognized by consumers and companies alike.
Will this lead to increased demand for logistics and supply chain professionals?
YD: The job market is growing rapidly, and this trend is not about to reverse. Of course, it is difficult to assess the impact of the COVID19 crisis on employment, because we lack perspective. But companies will want to acquire new skills to manage crises. In addition, logistics, which contributes to the competitiveness of companies, will be a key element in an economy in crisis. Supply Chain experts will therefore be more sought after than ever!
There are many logistics training courses. What are the special features of the ESLSCA MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management?
YD: The ESLSCA MBA trains experts who are immediately operational, with a program anchored in market reality. We therefore integrate simulations and case studies. In the second year, a teacher supports students in a business creation project, up to the presentation of a pitch in front of a jury at the end of the year. Some of these projects go beyond the exercise: they lead to a company, for example in a consulting activity…
This MBA is also forward-looking. Themes, selected with the students, are at the heart of technical research that aims to make a real contribution to the profession. In short, we want to be a center of excellence and reference.
Finally, the speakers were chosen for their expertise, but also for their desire to share their knowledge, their ability to transmit their passion to the students.
Why are logistics and supply chain management more essential than ever for businesses?
