The World Economic Forum named lifelong learning as one of the key skills for the next five years. But who should pay for new knowledge – the employee or the employer? Dmitry Makhlin, partner and development director at HRlink, answered this question.

I conducted a survey in my Telegram channel, asking the question: who should pay for employee training. The opinions of 280 people, specialists of different levels, were divided:

29% of respondents believe that the employer and employee ecuador telegram should share the costs of training;
25% are sure that the employer alone should pay for educational programs;
4% responded that this is the employee’s area of responsibility;
22% of respondents agreed that a company can compensate training costs depending on its results and cost;
12% found it difficult to answer.
It is interesting that three quarters of respondents do not rule out that the costs of training should be borne by the employee. And only a quarter calls investments in education the employer's duty.

This is not about mandatory training. For example, safety instructions in the workplace or mastering the necessary programs, without which it is impossible to perform one's functions. We are talking about increasing the level of competence and developing skills that will allow the employee to do his job better and bring greater value to the business.

The decision on how training is organized in the company is made by the employer. Their task is to make the process as efficient as possible. How to ensure that educational programs benefit employees and the company, and do not become a "mandatory" or an imitation with the sole purpose of showing off another diploma on social networks? This question is directly related to who pays for training.

On the topic: 47% of employers pay for employees to take advanced training courses
