1. National Military Manuals on IHL Workshops. The IHL Red Consortium is holding two online international workshops on ‘National Military Manuals on IHL’ (28 May), to discuss challenges and opportunities in drafting instruments for the application of IHL by Armed Forces, and, in cooperation with ICRC, the ‘International Humanitarian Law Legal Clinics Networking Conference’ (29 May) to discuss the application of clinical legal education to IHL. 2. Call for Articles: JUFIL. The Journal on the Use of Force and International Law (JUFIL) is currently calling for submissions of articles for the upcoming volume, which will be published in September and October 2024. They welcome articles on current topics related to any jus ad bellum issues in international law. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the inherent right of self-defence among States, the use of force authorized by the UN Security Council, and the use of force for humanitarian purposes. 3. BIICL Summer Schools. This summer, the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) is hosting two summer schools. The first programme focuses on Law and Technology (1-5 July) and provides an extensive overview of the diverse and fast-moving area of technologies applied in the field of law. The second programme delves into vk database Public International Law (15-19 July), offering a thorough introduction to the application of international law in today’s global affairs. BIICL’s training programmes combine expert insights and practical experience and courses are taught by a combination of academics and practitioners. Summer schools are hosted at BIICL’s central London office, at the heart of London’s energetic and multicultural legal network. 4. Goldsmiths Law and Society Research Seminar with Professor Kirsten Campbell. The Goldsmiths Law and Society Research Seminar with Professor Kirsten Campbell will be held on 28 May 2024 12-1 pm (UK time) at Deptford Town Hall, Goldsmiths, University of London (online participation is possible too). Prof. Kirsten Campbell will discuss her book ”The Justice of Humans: Subject, Society and Sexual Violence in International Criminal Justice”. 5. 2024 ECLAN Summer School: The EU Area of Criminal Justice. This Summer School will take place at the Institute for European Studies-ULB, Brussels, from 1-5 July 2024. This year’s Summer School will focus on “Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters”, delving into key instruments crucial at various stages of the criminal procedure, all examined in the context of recent developments in the field. It is specifically designed for practitioners, EU or national civil servants working in criminal matters; researchers and students interested in the EU area of criminal justice.
