Although by then there were already some studies applying heuristics, mainly to software testing. According to the ISBB Repository [1], it has been applied to a variety of IS problems. To provide a perspective on the applications, Figure 1 shows a graph of the proportion of published articles by IS subject area.

A recent study [2] highlights the following success stories. Chrysler, one of the first companies to use ISBB, experimented with these techniques for functional testing of a parking system and for temporal testing of airbag controllers.
