More than 85 governments to gather in Riyadh to lead

More than 85 governments from major mineral producing and consuming countries, including 16 countries from the leading G20 economies, as well as 50 Ministers and 13 Vice Ministers, have confirmed their participation in the 2025 Future Minerals Forum (FMF) Ministerial Roundtable on January 14, 2025.

The Ministerial Roundtable is a government-led, multi-stakeholder initiative and the traditional opening event of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF), which aims to catalyze international action to increase investment in mineral supply and build capacity in the African Super Region, West and Central Asia and other supply regions. This will be the world's largest and most senior gathering of mineral resources officials

Discussions will cover progress made over the past year gambling data turkey on three Ministerial Roundtable initiatives:

Developing an international Critical Minerals Framework
Establishing Centers of Excellence to enhance capabilities in sustainable development (Morocco), talent development (South Africa), and technological innovation (Saudi Arabia).
Advancing certification systems to ensure responsible sourcing of minerals.
His Excellency Khalid Al - Mudaifer, Vice-Minister for Mining Affairs at the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, stressed: “This conference is an important step towards achieving sustainable development in the global minerals industry. It is an ideal platform to provide solutions, develop legislation for best practices in sustainable mining, and explore ways to invest in mining projects to achieve economic and social development in producing countries.”

He was joined by senior leaders from supplier and financier countries, including ministers from Brazil, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Egypt, Italy, Nigeria, Qatar, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Thailand, Morocco, Indonesia, France, the United States and the United Kingdom, to discuss opportunities for global cooperation.

“This year’s discussions will focus on strengthening collaboration between governments, industry and communities to drive more investment in mining and promote development through value addition in supplier countries. We hope to support the growing need for sustainable mining practices, resilient supply chains and value-driven partnerships in the mining industry.”
